Medical Technology Systems, Inc. (“MTS”) was formed to commercialize a series of significant advances in the field of biomechanical medical technology. The Company’s founders have developed technologies which offer significant value to:
· The 2 million wheelchair users who suffer from the complications of prolonged seating, most notably the formation of pressure ulcers, · Sufferers of low back pain, who will benefit from the Company’s innovations in seating technology, and · Long term travelers in cars, trucks and airplane seats, whose travels will be less stressful on their bodies when using the Company’s innovations. These issues, from pressure ulcers to low back pain, impose tremendous economic burdens in the U.S. We founded the Company with the mission to improve the lives and relieve the pain of people who suffer from these debilitating symptoms. MTS is a new start-up company whose strategy is to design, develop and market products which have resulted from its founders’ clinical studies and research into the biomechanics of sitting. The Company is presently seeking an initial commercial investment of $600,000, which will be leveraged by forthcoming grant funding, to complete development of its first wheelchair seating product and introduce it to the rehabilitation accessories marketplace. MTS has designed and completed initial prototype development of the Intelligent Pressure Ulcer Prevention Cushion (“iPUPcTM”), the first and only seating technology which has been medically demonstrated to accelerate the healing process of established pressure ulcers and to minimize significantly the risk factors of pressure ulcer formation. The iPUPcTM technology also addresses other seating-related functional performance, postural alignment, comfort, and safety issues. These include low back pain effects from seating systems currently used in airplane, automobile and truck seating systems, which suffer from ineffective approaches such as lumbar-only support systems. This opens other business and market opportunities to the Company. The Company plans to begin selling its iPUPcTM seating systems during Q4 of 2008. It has already submitted an application to the U.S. FDA for marketing clearance under the 510k premarket notification process. Furthermore, recent reimbursement codes issued by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (“CMS”) for wheelchair powered positioning products lower the reimbursement risk for the Company’s products.
